Sammy Catalena Rodeo Company, along with Andrew Rodeo Company, will again produce this year's Rodeo which will consist of bull riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and women's barrel racing. A $2,800 added money PLUS a 2-horse trailer will be awarded to Helotes' All Around Cowboy. A $25.00 gas certificate for each event winner each night courtesy of Valley Mart #7. In addition, the Helotes Festival Association's PRCA Rodeo is proud to have national sponsors Coors, Dodge Ram, Wrangler, and Pendleton Whisky, as well as Helotes area sponsors to support our local events. Also included is an open calf scramble each night for all young kids to participate in.
Pre-rodeo activities begin at 7:00 each night with Mutton Bustin followed by the 7 event PRCA Rodeo kicking off at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Entertainment will be provided by world famous Amanda Payne and the One Armed Bandit Rodeo Co. This will be followed by a dance each night on the Cornyval grounds.
On Thursday, May 2nd, the Helotes Rodeo and Wrangler has teamed up with the Cancer Therapy & Research Center to host the annual TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK promotion in support of breast cancer awareness for PINK SHIRT NIGHT at the Helotes Rodeo. Wrangler gift certificates and other great items will be given away during our Thursday night rodeo performance, so we ask you to show your support by wearing your Wranglers and wearing PINK!
Friday, May 3rd will be COORS NIGHT at the Helotes Rodeo with great giveaways.
Saturday, May 4th, wear your red, white and blue as we join the Wrangler National Patriot Program with Helotes' Salute to the Military.
During Helotes' Saturday night rodeo performance,7 names will be drawn for prizes from our raffle. The Grand Prize winner will win 6 tickets (2 each night) to the NATIONAL FINALS RODEO held in December in Las Vegas, PLUS hotel accommodations at the South Point Hotel & Casino or the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. AND the lucky winner will also receive gift certificates from SOUTHWEST AIRLINES! Additional prizes include Wrangler NFR tickets with 3 nights hotel stay at Palace Station Hotel and Casino, a Mossberg Cruiser 12 guage shotgun, a Mossberg International rifle, catering for 20 by Black Tie Affair, Ameriguard Spray-In Bedliner, a $100 gift card from Two Step Restaurant and Cantina, and concealed handgun classes by STS Defense. Our Four Man Scramble Cowboy's Golf Tournament changed venues this year and will be held Friday night, April 5, 2013 at The Oak Valley Golf Course. Yes, NIGHT GOLF with lighted golf balls! Entry fee is $35 per player and includes green fee, 2 mulligans, and range balls. Entry deadline is March 29, 2013. General admission tickets to the rodeo are only $10 per person for all ages. Cornyval gate admission for persons over 12 years of age is $10 on Friday and Saturday. Cornyval gate admission on Thursday is free. Discount advance general admission tickets may be purchased at Cavender's Boot City, Broadway Bank, Hooves & Paws Veterinary in Helotes, and IBC Bank in Helotes.
